How much of the pen do you make?

I carefully select the internal components for my pens from suppliers across the UK. The outer materials, including wood from various merchants or reclaimed sources, are chosen for their quality and character. Making each pen is a meticulous process, taking up to three hours and involving several steps to achieve the desired outcome.

How long does it take from placing an order to receiving a pen?

Because each item is crafted by hand, please allow up to a week to two weeks, plus shipping time, for your order to be fulfilled. Rest assured, I'm dedicated to delivering your order promptly and efficiently.

Do I need to buy cartridges for my fountain pen?

Our fountain pens use a converter which is a compact cylindrical tool enabling you to refill your fountain pen using bottled ink, rather than relying on ink cartridges. By utilizing a fountain pen ink converter, you gain the flexibility to explore a wide array of colors from various brands. This versatility proves invaluable, especially when your fountain pen is limited to a single brand's cartridges, offering only a limited selection of two or three colors.

How do I use my ink converter?

Converters are much like a piston, either screwing clockwise or anticlockwise moves the piston up or down.

  1. Submerge the nib of the fountain pen into the ink.
  2. Screw the piston down completely to empty the ink chamber.
  3. Hold the nib in the ink and screw the piston up until converter is filled.
  4. There should be a small air gap at the top of the converter. Overfilling converters can lead to a leak.

What's the best way to look after my fountain pen?

To extend the lifespan of your fountain pen, consider the following:

  1. Always replace the cap after each use.
  2. Avoid storing the fountain pen with the nib facing downward in a pot, as this can lead to ink clogging and possibly leaking.
  3. When not in use, lay the pen horizontally on your desk or shelf to keep it ready for immediate use. For even better protection, store it in its presentation case.
  4. If you're fountain pen has started to clog up may I suggest Diamine Nib Cleaning Fluid?

What's the difference between a rollable and a ballpoint pen?

A rollable pen contains water-based ink and the ink in a ballpoint pen is oil-based. The rollable pen is a much smoother writing experience but it takes slightly longer to dry.

Why are you not VAT registered?

I'm not registered for VAT, for the following reasons;

  1. VAT registration is not required until turnover is above £85,000
  2. Most sales will be to non-VAT registered individuals

What are your payment methods?

You can purchase items from this site using most major credit cards and PayPal

Do you keep any of my credit card details?

No. I do not store any financial data at all. Data, such as credit card details are used by Stripe and PayPal to facilitate the order.

Do you test the pens before they are shipped?

Each pen is tested to ensure it writes properly. In the case of the fountain pen a small amount of ink is added and tested. It is then emptied and cleaned before being packed and shipped.

Where do you deliver to?

Unfortunately, until a cost-effective and efficient delivery service can be found I will only post to within the UK.

If you are outside the UK and would still like to order goods from this website, may I suggest using a mail forwarding service such as Forward To Me.
